 Acceptable Use Policy

Basic Guidelines

Customers of OEC are liable and prohibited from certain activities that could be transmitted through OEC’s services. 

These illegal activities include: 1. Using OEC’s services or name to violate any laws, regulations, treaties, or tariffs. 2. This also includes breaking any rules, regulations or policies of any network, server, website, database, or service provider that may or is connected to your account with OEC. 3. No defamatory, fraudulent, indecent, offensive or deceptive actions or words will be tolerated. 4. This can include, but is not limited to, threats, harassment, abuse or intimidation of others or their accounts. 5. Any damaging verbal or nonverbal use of OEC, its affiliates, or subsidiaries name or reputation you may not use. 6. Breaking any security devices or procedures with a computer network or account information is not allowed. 7. Behaving in a manner that interferes with other customers, their accounts, information or use of OEC’s services will not be tolerated. 8. Illegally using information, data or material that is protected under United States or state regulation or law, or by the common law, is prohibited. These violations include the unlawful use of copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, or any other statutes. 9. Any falsification or fraudulent use of credit card numbers, contract or application information will be grounds for immediate termination of your account and you may be subject to civil or criminal liability.

OEC reserves the right to remove any illegal material from its servers, network, website, or any other product owned or used by OEC. Also you are subject to immediate termination of your account and may even be subject to civil or criminal liability. E-Mail

OEC provides electronic mail for you, the customer. There are certain rules and regulations you must follow in order to keep you safe.

These rules and regulations include: 1. No “spam” mail sent out through your OEC account will be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to unsolicited bulk, commercial messages, informational announcements, charity requests, petitions for signatures, and political or religious tracts. In accordance to this it is also prohibited to receive responses from any of the above “spam” mail. 2. Forging, altering or removing electronic mail headers will not be allowed. 3. Sending out large amounts of the same e-mail (mail bombing) in an effort to disrupt a server or account is not tolerated. 4. Harassing or intimidating others through e-mail with language, frequency of messages, or size of messages is not allowed. This includes a single unwelcome message or repetitive unwanted messages. 5. Chain letters of any kind will not be tolerated. 6. Accounts may not be used to collect replies to messages sent from another Internet service provider if those messages violate this Acceptable Use Policy or the acceptable use policy of the other service provider. If you use the services of another provider to promote a web site hosted by or through OEC, then the provisions of this Acceptable Use Policy shall apply to the methods used to promote such site.

Website Content

Through OEC’s Web Hosting service you will be able to have your website hosted as long as you follow this distinctive set of rules. 

1. You will be responsible for any content on your website. If, at any point and time, complaints are received about the content such as communication or language used, descriptions or graphics (pictures, illustrations, images, drawings, logos, and so on) contained within, unlawful, indecent or objectionable material, executable programs, and video and audio recordings, OEC reserves the right to immediately disconnect your website.  2. You will also be liable for any public scorn or ridicule you may cause to affiliates, employees or shareholders of OEC.  3. Other illegal material would include anything that encourages the commission of a crime, indicates violence, degrades any one or group through sex, nationality, religion, color, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or political affiliation.  

Any of these violation will result in a termination of service and the removal of your website. If, for any reason (third party claims, attorney’s fees, and so on), expenses are incurred due to your actions, you will be responsible for reimbursing OEC for any losses on your behalf. 

Here are some basic definitions that should serve as a guideline to you:

Unlawful content is that which violates any law, statute, treaty, regulation, or lawful order. This includes, but is not limited to the following: obscene material, defamatory, fraudulent or deceptive statements, threatening, intimidating or harassing statements, or material which violates the privacy rights or property rights of others (copyrights or trademarks, for example).

Indecent content is that which depicts sexual or excretory activities in a patently offensive matter as measured by contemporary community standards.

Objectionable content is otherwise legal content with which OEC concludes, in its sole discretion, it does not want to be associated in order to protect its reputation and brand image, or to protect its employees, shareholders and affiliates.

Network Usage

Since OEC’s network is used by many customers and employees, excessive use or abuse of the network resources such as memory, disk space, CPU time, session time, resource-intensive programs, or any other function that has a negative impact on the performance of OEC’s systems or networks, will not be permitted. In the case that you violate these rules, OEC reserves the right to terminate or limit your activities or usage.

Illegal Activity

Any violation of any state or federal law is a violation of this policy and you will be responsible for any damages or expenses to OEC, its affiliates, shareholders, employees, other customers or businesses, or anyone else the violation is against. 

Some of these prohibited activities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Transmitting obscene materials or child pornography.  2. Intentionally spreading or threatening to spread computer viruses. 3. Gaining or attempting to gain unauthorized access to any network, including OEC's private network infrastructure. 4. Accessing or attempting to access information not intended for you. 5. Transmitting pirated software.  6. Conducting or participating in illegal gambling. 7. Soliciting for pyramid and other illegal schemes.

OEC will not permit any website that contains: (i) images (including on banner ads) of nude models (in OEC's sole judgment), (ii) sexually explicit images (including on banner ads) of models (in OEC's sole judgment); or (iii) sites containing language promoting child pornography together with any sexually explicit or nude images. As required by federal law in the United States, OEC will forward all offenders of this policy to the appropriate federal agency.

Privacy Statement

OEC has a policy to respect and uphold the privacy of its’ customers and their information that is contained within OEC servers or networks. OEC will only access and disclose customer information when it is necessary to maintain obedience to applicable laws, government requests, to operate or maintain its systems, or to protect itself or its customers.

OEC reserves the right to remove any illegal material from its servers, network, website, or any other product owned or used by OEC. Also, you are subject to immediate termination of your account and may even be subject to civil or criminal liability.
